Who is Rachel?

Rachel L. King is a dedicated advocate, thought leader, and conscious social influencer committed to racial equity, Black life, women's rights, foster care and adoption, and holistic wellness. As a strategic leader at the intersection of people, culture, and emerging technology, she currently serves as the Chief People Officer for Dream.Org—a national organization working at the nexus of criminal justice reform, climate justice, and tech equity—while also leading Rachel L. King Consulting, where she helps mission-driven organizations implement AI responsibly through an equity-centered lens.

Rachel's career reflects her deep-rooted passion for building equitable, human-centered organizations. Recognizing that artificial intelligence is reshaping how organizations operate, she is positioning herself as a bridge between technological innovation and social justice. Certified in AI Strategy from MIT Sloan School of Management, Rachel helps nonprofits and social impact organizations implement AI in ways that amplify human potential rather than replace it, applying the same equity lens that has defined her career to ensure technology serves humanity—not Silicon Valley.

Despite current attacks on DEI, Rachel remains unwavering in her belief that diversity, equity, and inclusion are essential to a thriving society and successful businesses. She refuses to back down in the face of systemic resistance, standing firm in her mission to create equitable spaces where all people—especially Black and Brown communities—can succeed and thrive. As AI becomes infrastructure in our organizations, Rachel is committed to ensuring these systems are built with justice, not just efficiency, at the center.

Through her social platforms and various media contributions, Rachel is a vocal advocate for racial justice, Black empowerment, and the protection of historical truth. In a time when history is being erased from classrooms, she is committed to preserving and uplifting Black narratives, ensuring that future generations understand their roots, struggles, and triumphs. Her deep dedication to the Black community began early in life and is also reflected in her decision to adopt—an experience that has shaped her advocacy for foster care and adoption reform, particularly for Black and Brown children disproportionately impacted by the system.

Rachel is also passionate about holistic wellness and the power of food as medicine. She follows a predominantly pescatarian lifestyle and believes that mental and physical wholeness are forms of resistance against a system designed to weaken and suppress marginalized communities. She is currently becoming a licensed herbalist and incorporates plant-based healing into her daily life. She is also the author of Sazón & Soul: A Veganized Tribute to My Family's Kitchen, a cookbook that reimagines traditional family recipes through a plant-based lens, celebrating culture while embracing nourishment.

Beyond her professional and personal endeavors, Rachel serves on the Board of Directors for the Austin Area Urban League and H.O.M.E. She is also a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, initiated at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign's Alpha Nu Chapter.

Originally from Chicago, Rachel now resides in Austin, Texas, with her husband Marquise, daughters Savannah and Kensleigh, sons Elijah and Zane, and bonus daughter Skye.

Whether advocating for justice, amplifying Black voices, promoting holistic health, or helping organizations navigate technological transformation responsibly, Rachel stands as a powerful force for change—unyielding, passionate, and committed to shaping a more just and equitable world.
